I heard this rumor but I'm not so sure. So can someone please explain???

Someone told me that if you are above average in your school you get the above average mark but then if you are below average then you get the below average mark.......what does that mean??

and if you do get the below average mark do you get like the lowest mark in your year? and if you are above average do you get like the highest mark in the year?? what if you are the average person then what mark do you get?????

am I confusing people??? please explain

If your raw assessment mark happens to be the same as the average raw assessment mark for your class, your moderated assessment mark will be the average of the exam marks for your class.
