I know BOS requires you to do 4 subjects, but can only 3 subjects count? This applies to people doing both 4u maths and 4u eng. Just in case you bomb out on one of your extra subjects and do well in all your extensions.

When the University Admissions Index is calculated, at least 2 units of English and the best 8 units are counted. Yes, three subjects may only count towards the UAI in accordance to the Board of Studies definitions. However, you must remember that extension courses are separated from the 2 unit courses in the UAI calculation. In other words if someone undertakes 4 units of English and 4 units of Mathematics then these 8 units would be reported as follows:

4 units of English:

English (Advanced): ___ / 100
English Extension 1: ___/ 50
English Extension 2: ___/ 50

4 units of Mathematics:

Mathematics Extension 1: ___/ 100
Mathematics Extension 2: ___/ 100

well theoretically yes they will seperate your marks. however, in practice it does not worl like that. as has been mentioned, it is your next 8 units after your compulsory 2 units of english. when they mean 2 units of english, and if you do extension english or higher, they will take your best 2 units of english as your 2 units of compulsory english.

And if your remaining 2 units of English are still in your next best 8, they are also counted.
