2.8 IDENTIFY DATA SOURCES, GATHER, PROCESS AND ANALYSE INFORMATION AND USE AVAILABLE EVIDENCE TO ASSESS EINSTEINS CONTRIBUTION TO QUANTUM THEORY AND ITS RELATION TO BLACK BODY RADIATION

Now I know Einstein explained the properties of photoelectrons (photon model of light). But what are we meant to say about it? In other words, what are we assessing?

Make a judgement of value, quality, outcomes, results or size of Einstein's contribution to the quantum theory.

Thats the dot point.

Einstein used planck's idea and said that the incident light was quantised. He named a quantum of light ' a photon' The energy of a photon depended o its frequency, according to E=hf. Furthere, Einstein stated that a certain amount of energy was required by an electron to escape the metal surface. He called this the work function. p= h/ lamda.
You can see that the higher frequency UV photons have more mass than the light photons. Photon mass is directly proportional to frequency.
