    Oddities In The Exams

Nothing really odd happened to me. The only thing I can think of was when I had my booklets for eng on the side of the table (the ones i'd finished with), and they must have been slightly hanging off. One of the examiners walked past and knocked them and all my booklets went flying off, but he...

How Many Pages Did You Write?

I think I started this whole Pages debate in this thread from my comment lol ... I was just pointing out that the markers notes DID say (I forget which year though) that a 8-10 page quality essay, was better than a 20+ page one with a lot of filler. (They were the exact numbers they gave)

How Many Pages Did You Write?

10 for each. I write medium sized I guess, and was VERY happy with my answers. The teacher notes for previous exam years regularly state that 8-10 pages of good quality material is better than 20+ with a whole lot of filler.

    Indv+Soc - Related text appropriateness?

It is 'ways of thinking.' I don't really understand how a 20th C. play written in an 17th C context is relevant to 19th C. ways of thinking, but then again I haven't read it so ...

    Indv+Soc - Related text appropriateness?

Yeh but the Crucible was written in the 20th Century I believe, about the 17th century (or 18th I dunno). uberschveinen, there is no point changing now if you've been working on it for months, the exam is tomorrow. Just make sure you use the text well. And hope it all works out.

Urgent Question on Heaney and Essay Structure

Two poems are also shorter than a novel or a mini-series, it all balances out in the end.

    Indv+Soc - Related text appropriateness?

Yes the text must be in the context of the 19th Century. It is better if it is written then, however a 20th century text about the 19th Century, like Langton's P&P would suffice.

    URGENT!!! I&S Creative Writing help!!!

You only have to take the role of one of your text's characters if the question demands it of you. Otherwise just do a creative piece of writing which demonstrates your understanding of how particular ways of thinking have shaped and are reflected in texts. It can be anything.

    Did you finish on time?

Finished with a few minutes to spare.

    Yeats

I liked the Q too. At first I didn't because it specified EXACTLY 2 and I was going to do 3, but then it allowed me more time to do my own personal analysis of the poems which was awesome. The poems I did were "When You Are Old" & "The Wild Swans At Coole" & I wouldn't be...

Module A: Comparative Study of Texts and Context

I'm still not sure what Moral Order means .... *ahh* .... I think I answered the Q correctly though looking at the responses in here. I just did my generic essay plan and made reference to the term over and over and over and over again :) What I took it to mean was basically the social...

How many pages did you write? [Merged]

Re: How many pages did you write? Module A) 7 Module B) 6.5 Module C) 7 I wrote as fast as I could and thought I was doing pretty well lol ... my writing is pretty small ... my hand was killing me towards the end!

    Quality over Quantity

My writing is rather small too and I only used the 3 booklets given to us (though filled 2 of 3 I think). It does erk me when you get out and everyone is like 'how many pages did you write' like it is important or something. It doesn't matter in the slightest as long as you wrote a reasonable...

What is meant by text two (prose fiction) by landscapes?

I thought it was a reflection on Sheridan too. The whole idea of the landscape being perfect for a hippie like Sheridan. It was a slightly unkept landscape with overgrazed paddocks, the rusted watertank, the flies etc but then he notices the hardwork sheridan had put in with all the new fenced...

Yeats- How many poems should we know?

I doubt that they will specify in the actual exam. They CAN, however alot of people are doing novels and other texts for this module, so it would be unfair to those studying Yeats to single out which poems we had to use, while others get to use their whole texts. Just learn 3 in detail, the...

    Section 3

Physical Journeys here ..... at first I was like WTF at the Q but then I got down and wrote a pretty good essay/argument I thought. Totally forgot I was meant to be arguing it, but I just said it was true and then based my essay around the Q and then backed it up in the conclusion, so it...

    Section 2

I wasnt estatic with the phrase they gave us but I still managed to do a 8 page story with my teeny writing. Basically did a story inside a story ... made a grandfather tell his grandaughter about a journey when he was younger .... did self-discovery, about generosity and goodwill - which was...

    Section 1

AHHH I hate Section 1 papers lol I think I did good except for maybe the Q of the second text and the last Q (which were 2 of the highest mark ones ... grrr) The poem I thought was really good ... it was actually a poem that I liked personally (even though I saw it for the first time today)...
