    Possibly Find out Raw Marks

If people try but can't get the marks they could talk to this dude... http://blogs.smh.com.au/newsblog/archives/freedom_of_information/index.html A bit of media pressure perhaps?

    BIT Application Questions

My theory is that they stuffed up the dates and didn't really mean 18th and 19th. I think UAIs were out by those dates last year but not this year. In the end, it comes down to UAIs. Without them they can't exactly call and offer places. Or yes, we're all gerbils in an experiment. :P

Maths Ext 1 - General thoughts on the exam

depends on the number of people who do the course. With 9200 ish students, the top 10 places are reported (over 10000 = 20 places, Less than 1000 people = top 5 places are reported)

    Band 6 cut off?

Makes perfect sense. The people who get 60ish will get 45ish for their MX1 mark, those who get 80ish will get 50ish for their MX1 mark. Totally fair.

Dance Champ Teen Found Dead Before Exam

Actually, Schumann committed suicide at the end of his life. :P As for the issue at hand, I'll just echo what politik said. Would they have printed the story for 11 months of the year? I don't think so.... although now that I'm a Frontline watching, media savvy graduate of the...

Can anyone else see the humour???

Oh, I don't know. Understanding strange requirements, using only the authority-endorsed terminology, being able to write bullshit and thinking inside the box seem like perfect qualities of military officers. >:P

    How was it? Thoughts? Comments?

The question as I understood it refered to Equal Employment Opportunity, you had to talk about how the new structure had to be fair to everyone and not biased. That's the only thing that makes sense given the (largely crap) syllabus and the (often poorly worded) past papers.

    How was it? Thoughts? Comments?

I thought it was really straightforward in the Industry section, and I didn't have to bullshit too much. Equity is the question I'm least confident about, I'm pretty sure I repeated myself. Multimedia was so very easy, though the scanners threw some people. The one instance where I felt glad...

    >90 in 2u maths?

I did it last year. Easy. People in Ext 1 maths get band 6 because if they do Ext 1 they're (usually) good at maths. Hence they get band 6 in Maths. It's not a Board of Studies rule or anything like that.

    Oldwives tale or anecdotal evidence?

If by 'decent scaling' you mean your marks are left alone or scaled up, then that's exactly right. An aggregate mark of 450/500 gets you into the 99 range, easy. a 90 in English scales to 87.4, Ext 2 Maths scales to 93.4, Industrial Technology scales to .... 65.8 So if you're talking about...

    Sooo exam's tomorrow..

Heh, you too. We walk the hard path, we Industrialists. And those Frenchies, they're just trying to be tough. Damn Frenchies.

How Do You Find Multimedia ?

In 2005, 8% of students got Band 6. That's for all of Industrial Technology, there could be a much higher percentage for Multimedia given the relative candiditure. And, of course, you cannot rely on statistics as a guarantee. Last year we (school) had 6 band 6s, out of about 40 people...
