Post your subjects for the coming semester!

It's a shame not many more people use this forum, it's a good resource for UTS science students. Especially since the UTS online forums are monitored (and moderated) by course directors. This is a good place for people to get help with pracs and assignments and whatever else. Anyway, I might see...

Post your subjects for the coming semester!

We need more discussion in this forum :) Starting a new science degree at UTS, or continuing from last year? Post the subjects you'll be studying this year and how you think you'll go!

    St Leonards-City move

Just tell one of the lab staff and/or the lab manager. The student responsible for the mess will be burned at the stake. The thing is, if you also continue to leave your stuff dirty - the other student using your bench (and making the mess) could do the same and get you into trouble...

    Medical Science @ UTS

I'm not too sure what books you'll need, but one book I still look back through is "Anatomy & Physiology" by Marieb. If you look in the second hand bookshop, near the downstairs food/bar section of the tower building (level 3, I think), you're likely to find a few copies of it quite cheap.

    Die Medline

Okay, Medline is not all crap and useless. If you know how to use it, you'll be on your way to finding relevant articles faster than you can say "weapons of mass destruction." I'll post a quick guide to using Medline, the way I use it (as I'm sure other people will have their own ways): -...

    St Leonards-City move

Well, as you nursing students do your prac at Royal North Shore hospital, I'm assuming that aspect of your course will stay the same. Don't quote me though, I don't know much about you nursing guys. I only see you about the place when I go for coffee at the hospital :)

    St Leonards-City move

Yes, the whole of Gore Hill campus is moving to Broadway. The move is scheduled to begin mid February, as this is when the new building is handed over from the construction company. There is absolutely no way that any more teaching can be done at the Gore Hill campus, as the Dunbar building is...

O-Week 2005: Make Yourself At Home!

The student guild wants you to blow it up and draw a happy face on it. That's what they're used for, you know? That's why God invented latex...

    Model of a feedback mechanism

I like the idea of the panceas and maintaining blood glucose level (BGL). Without going into too much detail, you can quite easily understand its mechanism. Person eats food --> BGL rises --> pancreas secretes insulin --> insulin lowers BGL --> lowered BGL tells liver to release glucagon...

    Urine question

All of the above are correct explainations. More specifically, I think the question might be referring to the concentration of solutes in the urine, such as urea, sodium chloride and uric acid. With respect to hypo, hyper and isotonicity (as per the definitions listed above). Hope this helps :D
