    Official UAI Results

I think all the UAI estimators are overestimating for this yr: NSW UAI: 99.2 JUAI: 99.55 SAM:99.55 AlbertE: 99.55 but still good enough

    Probability Paradox

I don't see any problems with that becuase of the fact that the selection is random. I mean if you had a bag of the numbers and randomly picked one out it would never be a rational one even though you had rational numbers in the bag. Due to the random nature of selection the chance of getting a...

    Probability Paradox

I was sort of thinking that it has to do alot with the "random" part. Also i thought you could have infinite possible irrational numbers between each rational number, does that make any sense or just wrong? So comparing the number of rational numbers to irrational numbers is like comparing 1 to...

    complex no. Q

    for the second bit, |z-i| - |z+i| = 4 satisifes, |PS - PS'| = 2a. So it's a hyperbola with foci at i and -i. It would become a branch only, if Im(z)>0 or if Im(z)<0

    complex no. Q

    i think 1) is arg(z) =/= kpi/2 where k is any integer. 2) |z| = 1 and also arg(z) =/= kPi/2

    Need help with 2 Qs

Ok i did the first question. The differentiation is easy, just change the base to base e and then quotient rule to differentiate. h(x)= 1/ln10 (lnx/x) h2(x)= 1/ln10 [(1-lnx)/x] 2nd part was a bit harder, there's some clues in the question such as "stationary point is max" so you let h2(x)=0...

    A HARD question

Yes well the thing about olympiads is that they arent testing how well you know a syllabus(HSC). It's actually how well you can think and play around with what they have given you and also olympiad problems can be varied alot so you can't really make an outright detailed syllabus.

    A HARD question

uhh no what i did was find the dimensions of the galaxy using the first information. Since we have a sphere you can work out its volume and then its radius for the volume you use the sum of all the mass in the galaxy(the stars) and the density to find the volume. from the radius you get...

    A HARD question

i think i might have found a way to do it but ill just check first , is the answer to part b) 1.75*10^(-17) Hertz?

    2 Questions :)

ok then, 1) amount of H2=4.68L = 4.68/24.47 moles = 0.19 moles of H2 therefore 0.38 moles of OH- have been added into the solution from loss of H+. originally in water there is 1*10^-7 molL^-1 concentration of OH- and so in 1.2 L there was 1.2*10^-7 moles of OH-. therefore now there are...

Volumes problem -show area = ...

umm about this question are you sure it asks you to show the area is sqrt(1-y), shouldnt there be a pi in there somewhere? as for solving this one first you have to rearrange eqn in terms of x i.e. quadratic formula giving you 2 x values. so the inner radius becomes (3-biggerX) and outer...

    Multiple choice

according to this that means S02 exerts double the pressure of O2 if it has twice as many moles, then shouldnt the answer still be 200 and not 50?

    Multiple choice

The first one you can do in c ouple of steps. first find out how many moles of the arsenic sulfide is in 0.123g by dividing this by the molar mass. then multiply this by 2 to find the number of moles of arsenic and then multiply this by arsenics molar mass the find its mass in grams. then just...

HSC mark >90 for 4 units

if you go to a good selective school, how hard is it really to get 95+ for 4unit, is it alot harder than getting a 90?
