    does anyone not drink

I don't drink - better for my body, my wallet, and my overall well-being. Besides, I like to think that I don't need alchohol to relax or socialise more effectively. When I am enjoying myself, I want it to be real - and to experience everything with heightened senses. Plus, it just doesen't...

    School Leavers Scholarships

OK, sounds like a stupid question but I just want clarification: people shortlisted for USYD scholarships find out if they are accepted/rejected by 9th January? (where did you find out?)

    School Leavers Scholarships

Damn, no letter today - no mail until monday...the Arts faculty sure knows how to build suspense. Basically it would be great to do honours in 3 instead of 4 years, then I could move onto more post-grad stuff and just generally challenge and extend myself. I think the only harder thing about...

    School Leavers Scholarships

Ouch! You never know though, you might get it. My first preference is BA(Advanced)(Honours) and requires a 98.6 - so I can totally appreciate the oh-well-but-slightly-hopeful tone of your 'ha, ha, ha'. Otherwise I should be fine with an 83 for a BA!

    School Leavers Scholarships

I swear, that letter better come before the weekend. There is such a slim chance on my being shortlisted, and an even slimmer chance of getting the marks - but I just want to know and get it over with! ....wow...we do sound kind of desperate.lol.

    School Leavers Scholarships

Do you mean they only shortlist 50 people out of all applications across the faculties? Or 50 per faculty?

    School Leavers Scholarships

Don't worry - am exactly the same. True about verbosity - I actually narrowed all my margins and used a slightly smaller font to fit in everything for my personal statement! Then again, I am applying for Eng. Lit. - so go figure!

    School Leavers Scholarships

They have to notify us even if we weren't shortlisted. Apparently if you miss out you get a letter from the Scholarships and Prizes Office, and if you get shortlisted, you get one from the faculty. It's my guess that the Arts Faculty is just less organised than the others, hence the delay.

Don't worry - I applied for Arts too and still haven't heard anything (which is kind of bugging me...I really want to know!). Good luck!

What do you want to be when you grow up? Plans for after the HSC?

Re: the big question WHAT UNI DO YOU WANT TO GO TO AND WHY! USYD - open day totally made up my mind, great diversity for my course, good rep., and nice campus.

    General Thoughts - Ancient History

much easier than i thought - but i was still ridiculously underprepared and am dissapointed with that.. P&H - ok, but a bit specific, waffled extensively Sparta - straightforward, bonus marks really Xerxes - oh yes, very nice - building program and rebellions allowed for a little...

    General Exam thoughts

I know, only one religion !?! - kind of messed up my structure and thesis a bit, but I think I recovered into the essay. Other than that and the multiple choice, a great paper. wrote until pens down, had plenty of time to plan, 12 pages (big writing) for each essay....have now finished the HSC ...

    Section 2 analysis (15 markers)

Christianity - baptism and bioethics Hinduism - puja/temple worship and bioethics best section in the paper, got the chance to be really concise, cram lots of information, evidence - and maybe for the first time, I didn't waffle! :)
