Nah I'm pretty sure you have to have your full licence for some length of time before you are able to drive a manual. I'm almost positive that you can't switch to manual if you are on your green P's.

The way I see it is if you are getting 90% or more in your 2 unit maths tests, then 3 unit is worth the effort. But obviously you don't have that luxury yet 'cause you haven't done any 2 unit tests, but a good indicator is your school certificate. If you got a band 6 then definitely choose it...
