why dont students have the choice to do math standard alongside mx1?
i did math advanced and dropped down to standard straight away. there's a reason why school's dont let you do standard alongside advanced or extension. most people who end up in standard are supposed to be in standard.

dropped adv to standard, if yr 11 adv was such a shitshow i can't even imagine how bad ex1 would be. i acknowledge that i belong in standard but the ppl doing well in adv and ext don't. (stop smurfing in my lobby pls)

??? Because the content has little correlation with each other??? Also the level jump ????
Incorrect. People in Victoria are able to do General math along with Specialist Maths (practically equivalent to 4u). UAC and NESA just makes up retarded rules. Infact, they can do three maths General, Specialist and Methods and have them all count towards atar.

Maths Ext1 is structured to build upon foundational content in Advanced, especially the calculus elements which are not covered in Standard. You can’t learn it independently as a stand-alone 1 unit course without learning the foundational 2 unit parts. It’s effectively a 3 unit course.

If you were to do Standard and Ext1 hypothetically then you’re basically taking on 4-5 units of work because you effectively have to learn the Advanced course anyway

ive heard so many ppl find ext1 easier than adv tho (someone confirm)
That’s mainly because people who lean more towards the “pure” side of maths do not like a lot of the applied elements in Advanced such as probability, statistics and financial maths (which is not expanded much in extension courses)

I actually like the applicable part of math better lol. But probability can be hard

but you would learn it in mx1
they dont teach u those skills in mx1 unless its inverse trig diff/int. ur supposed to learn them in adv and are expected to know them for mx1. and personally the way questions are designed in ext exams are different to st & adv so whoevers saying its easier needs to get checked.

i know people who chose e2 bc adv is boring not bc its harder lol. e1 is def harder than adv.

e1 is harder than advanced, and e2 is definitely harder . they're just trying to make everyone think they are sooooo smart. In reality, if you gave them a math advanced exam, where they learnt the advanced syllabus, they would've most definitely gotten a higher raw in math advanced.

statistics is in extension 1, 2022 especially, no? statistics is also more valuable for preparation for tertiary studies than bs circle geometry. thank god they got rid of geometry in extension 1. what is this, year 9 gcse?
