I was originally using the uniball jetstream but have now switched to the Pilot G2 1mm, as the Uniball was making my writing super messy- Kinda trades speed for precision and Im okay with that.

What about you guys?

Omg yeah the uni ball made my handwriting so messy during my Eng prelim and after that I never used that pen ever again. I’ve switched back to the paper mate gel ink pens (I think that’s what it’s called)

For English and other essay-heavy exams, I prefer using thick pens which are water/gel based as it makes my writing look less agressive (I tend to write very jagged lines when I'm under exam stress). For calculation based subjects such as maths and chem, I prefer muji pens as they seem to cope better with precise answers tbh.

Daiso sells ballpoint pens in packs of 10 and they're my absolute favourite! They feel really smooth to write with, and make my handwriting look pretty legible even when rushing in exams (and I don't have great handwriting). Every friend of mine who borrowed them liked them as well.

Yeah I used them for a bit but I feel like it isn’t as smooth as my gel pens and it’s kinda hard to write fast

I feel like this is a case of the placebo effect, where people feel less stressed with more expensive pens. Just a thought.
The effect is so much worse in china, stationary companies sell pens that have good fortune symbolism or phrases on the design to ‘boost fortune‘ during specifically the gaokao.
