id say you're very likely to get the major you want.
it's more the very popular streams (read: france) where the students battle it out to get in.
i wouldn't worry about it if you're set on chile. i chose spain, which is moderately popular i gues, and got in.
nah i didnt stay for all of it ... it was cool to meet people but u can do that next week anyway ... for the most part i was struggling to stay awake. everyone was really friendly though, it was a good atmosphere
Okay, when putting in my preferences for my law subjects, i noticed in the timetable planner some classes i wanted to do had "postgrad students only next to them", but when actually doing my preferences the same times said "open to all students". i've emailed uts to ask them and so far no reply...
i'm going coz i got the day off work for it already ... so i hope it's good haha. does anyone know exactly what they're going to do with us for like 6 hours??
i was in the same position and it was uts i chose! not only because it seemed better for law but the int studies degree was 1000x better for what i wanted to do compared to syd :)
i thought the multichoice was hard too!
my option was introduced species and it was dead easy, the short answers were pretty straightforward ... i did struggle with the technology and fossil life forms question so i just wrote every technology that had anything to do with environments through...
our exam supervisors are all
so
so
so
old and slow
it took half an hour for them to collect english paper 1 ... and when u ask for extra booklets and stuff it takes them ages
one plus is the game granny wars ... where u put ur hand up and see at least two race towards u to see what u want...
i got my kit today, signed up for it for a laugh and this is what was in it:
a nutrigrain bar
a usyd yoyo
a usyd packet of jelly beans
a usyd temporary tattoo of a lion
2 highlighters
a pen/pencil thing
a stressball
study tips from usyd students
mostly useless, i enjoyed my usyd jelly beans tho
i think our year is a mixed bunch - we have a LOT of really, really talented people, and generally the top 20 or so from our school get a uai of 96+.
but we also have some really, really, really, really dumb people, which probably drags us down to a bit above average haha
