    Speeches and links

Ok guys, it's that time of the year. HSC in 13 days or somesuch, hope we're all studying hard! Now, as we all know, you can't get above 75% (or so) with a simple structured response, you have to go integrated. The hard part here, of course, is getting those nasty intertextual links. So...

    The Vernon Anchor Aluminium Mesh

The aluminium WOULD, yes, to a small degree, but the fact that it passivates means that it's far from an ideal metal for the situation. and the iron isn't corroded.. that's the point...

Help me with my Shipwreck's assignment, plizzz......>_<

Copper doesn't rust past the surface, it'll get a green tarnish but that's about it. And aluminium and zinc passivate so you won't see any sign of corrosion (apart from the sheen becoming dull)... that is unless you're doing the experiment in sea water. If you are, the Cl- ions will interrupt...

    The Vernon Anchor Aluminium Mesh

In both my sources for the vernon anchors, it mentions that the electrode potential of aluminium is relevant, "A display and mounting system was built for the anchors which includes an aluminium mesh on which the anchors rest. Mesh rather than solid metal allows water to drain away and aluminium...

I'm not sure what nails you're getting but most these days are already galvanised so you have a form of protection right off the bat. Otherwise you could try passivating the iron... i'm not sure how long the layer takes to form, though.

    Passivating Iron

It is possible, acording to the book. I'll just quote it "Passivate the iron - Although iron does not self-passivate as aluminium or chromium does, it is possible to form chemically a relatively inert surface layer. Special rust-preventing paints often contain potassium chromate which oxidises...

    Titration/Molarity Help - Urgent

The question is from Conquering Chem 2, question 19 chapter 5. "The standard Sodium Hydroxide Solution from Excercise 17 (0.165 Mol/L) was used to determine the concentration of acetic acid in a particular brand of vinegar. 50 mL of the vinegar (by pipette) was accurately diluted to 250 mL...
