    Queenwood Day

To be honest ledzeppelin, unless you've really got translation and grammar under control, or you have really sharp note taking which you will refer to later on, this can be a waste. Last year all the lectures were very academic and commentary based, with the exception of Mrs Matters...

    The New Latin Cohort

I have a tip that may be considered turpis... but is useful nonetheless. Print out two sets of A4 sheets with grammar rules, conjugations, declensions, numerals, ordinals, pronouns, and the like. Take them to a copy store and get them laminated. Carry one set around with you to school and use...

    Latin Summer School

Ahh futue me, I've missed the last two years being overseas:mad1: I shouldn't be ungrateful... but their timing is just... perfect :| Who had Mr Salter? I think I've said this before somewhere, but he's the best teacher in the nation. More so than Madame Matters, might I add.

    Virgil

Yeah its pretty mad stuff - the Classics rules! If your into epic myths though, check out the Iliad and the Odyssey by Homer - non-abridged. They are the original texts while the Aeneid is kinda stolen from it.

    Latin Extension

Wo hOa! Its actually over! The HSC! Man Latin Ext was pretty radical today, just came out of left field with that essay question. I thought it was drawing quite a long bow, bit tongue-in-cheek... NSB knows what I'm talkin about at least... So what did you eruditi homines think of that...

    Latin Continuers

ipse dux inclutus, deum certissima prolex, pietate insignis et armipotens: Mr Salter. We call him Magnus Salsus.

    Latin Continuers

Yeah despite the magnitude to which I disagree with that statement, I have to concede one point: the smartest man in the world, who is our Latin teacher, graduated from Sydney Grammar in 1991. He got first in the state in two langauges! And he came first in the Reading Competition!

    Virgil

The Aeneid can be found in libraries by the author David West, or on some sites which hold archives of Latin texts. You don't do Latin though... are you just interested in the story or are you going to study it?

    Latin Continuers

That's the most honourable thing I've read on this forum ever. How good was that test!?! I swear I couldn't have had more favourable circumstances - somehow everything that came fitted exactly everything I knew. I just couldn't have asked for anything more. What did you guys get for...

    Virgil

Yeah true, Cicero's vocab is limited to the different descriptions of whores and their activities, and he kind of repeats his arguments word for word, again and again. Virgil has to talk about Tityos and all that terminology about intestines being gorged out, so there are more words to...

    trial marks

NSB have been getting close, but I don't when the last time they took first was. For the trials our exams were in the middle of the English ones, but we said Nup, Latin's way too important, and got it moved till the end of the exam block. Our poor teacher had to sit through the full 3 hours...
