    General Thoughts: Physics

Just an update for Q3 and why I think it's D. Check out the outcome on Pg 41 of the syllabus. It states: "Define Gravitational potential energy as the work done to move an object from a very large distance away to a point in a gravitational field" If you take the NSW BOS syllabus...

    General Thoughts: Physics

    With Q19 the electron projectile can anyone confirm this was correct? a) F=qE = 1.602 x 10^19 x V/d = 100/0.1 = 1.6 x 10^-16N downwards b) Electric force = Newtons Force qE(a) = ma 1.6 x 10^-16 = 9.1 x 10^-31 x a a= 1.758 x 10^14m/s^2 so now use projectile motion analysis Vy=Uy + at 0=5.2 x...

    General Thoughts: Physics

I must say looking back at this paper still the BOS creates questions with are ambiguous... In any case when a q raises doubt get rid of it.... I mean seriously when will they learn and I still argue that Q3 is D as the gravitational field can be implied as the geosynchronous orbit and the...

Re: 2009 HSC Physics - How did you go? Ohhh I agree with you no question about it but what are we looking for here the BEST answer right???? Based on that for Q3 there is C and D. I stand by the premise that D is missing key words and then again so to is C.....which could be argued both...

    General Thoughts: Physics

Re: 2009 HSC Physics - How did you go? For Q5 I am now thinking possibly C as the force remains unchanged and this is due to the force existing between Earth and the moon only. Surely though there would be some retrograde effect from the force of the sun on the moon.....albeit minor. This is...

    General Thoughts: Physics

Re: 2009 HSC Physics - How did you go? It is NOT correct as the work done is from infinity to those points. In that answer the assumption is horses for courses and could possible refer to zero as the centre of earth. Either way whoever wrote those answers has no clue how to write proper...

    General Thoughts: Physics

Re: 2009 HSC Physics - How did you go? Q 3 and 5 are very poor questions. I am sticking with 3 - D as gravitational field is the geosynchrous orbit and infinity to Geo and infinity to higher orbit (difference) is the work done. Even though they did not state the difference they infer it in the...

Re: 2009 HSC Physics - How did you go? Here is the MC section scanned: 2009 MC Physics.doc My suggested answers: I think a few may be wrong see what others say. Actually I am quite confident with them now :) feel free to rebut them.. 1. C - sling shot changes direction and increases the...

2009 HSC Physics - How did you go? People, Put your thoughts in this thread about today's Physics HSC exam. I will put in my multiple choice answers when I received a copy of the paper....hope it's a good paper find out shortly... :)

Want to wish all Physics HSC candidates today the best of luck in the paper.. Just do it........... :)

    why does e=mc^2?

The answer to these 4 questions cannot be answered in simple HSC level physics. It requires complex mathematical derivatives.. (See below link). Either way it's proven at a mathematical level but it certainly would be interesting to see the derivative and how Einstein proved it to the world...

    the direction of current

Most questions will have an arrow and the letter "I" above it. This represents the conventional current which is always + to - direction flow or + charge movement. Any other form will explicitly state in the question "electron flow" which is obviously the opposite direction. This style of...
