I want to get above 95 for my atar but I'm only getting 90's in commerce. We have subject selection soon, so I'm sure I want to do economics and english advanced + extension but what else can I do that will boost my atar? I am not all great at sciences like chemistry but I was considering physics... Right now, I'm getting in the low 80s for most of my other subjects... To overall get above 95 atar, can I PLSPLSPLS have some help on what some good subejcts would be for the hsc?

dw too much about scaling cause if u do really well it won't matter. Just do what u enjoy. if u enjoy sciences then u should be fine but if u don't like it and ur not good at it then maybe it's not the best decision cause then you'll struggle or hate the subject. Maybe try doing business or legal if u like commerce

if ur getting low 80s in ur other subjects ur in a pretty good position no matter what. pick what you enjoy. and if u really wanna do smth related to commerce, pick economics for sure & business studies (it tends to be a bit boring but all thats needed is memorisation, youll smash it)

economics & legal
don't bother with business, its a shitty subject
thought i should clarify - the reasons you shouldn't choose business are;
1. boring and redundant content & the subject hinges SOLELY on memorisation rather than any type of conceptual learning (unless you for some reason like memorising?)
2. horrible atar contribution unless you get mid-high b6

Why do u hate business so much lmao. But fair enough it can get really annoying but legal also requires lots of memorisation and there’s a lot of content

its a boring subject to study, the theory is redundant and its hard to find a motive to study for this subject when its so dead
fyi this is coming from someone who's got 100% in all internal tasks so far 🤷 i'm telling you this from experience
for legal i wouldn't know, i don't actually do legal - but from what i've been told the theory is way more interesting

sooo if i do these 3 humanities and say i score 90+ in them, will i be able to get a 95+?? and i still have 6 remaining units, so if im getting low 80s in math and english, would you guys recommend ext 1 for both??? or any replacements like society and culture, or a science?

sorry, can you spell out what you're thinking?
also, you don't NEED to do ext 1 in either of them if your course-load is already too high. if you think could add them on without damaging your performance in your other courses, theyre good, but if you think it might be too much, i'd suggest picking one or the other, or neither...

yepp so i was thinking to do:
economics, legal, business, ext 1 english and ext 1 math
but:
> in this discussion, business didn't seem that valid and I also recently spoke to some seniors who told me there was bad scaling, so they didn't recommend it
> i am not sure if i will end up with a band 6 for extension 1's in math and english because that is what i am aiming for - and i really need to improve on those

Those subjects would be my 12 units which I could drop later on. However, since I am not extremely strong in math or english, more particularly math, I need to find another subject that could be my two units which I would be good at - but can scale well and is interesting. I was thinking a science such as physics or biology may do as the scaling is good, however, I only get mid-80's for those subjects. I was also thinking to continue my accelerated subject computing but I am unsure as to whether it would scale well.

I am sure I want to do economics, legal and english advanced, but I need to decide on the other 6 units which I was hoping you could help me decide on :(

don't pick SAC it's so boring. (ok I might be biased but still it depends on the teacher). But u still have time to improve so don't choose ur subjects solely on how ur performing now cause things can change a lot (aka my math marks). Just choose what u think u enjoy and are generally good at. But if u like math then go ahead and pick ext 1. But don't pick it just for scaling.

I think keep ur accel computing subject if u enjoy it cause it's good to have a subject that is less content heavy. What other subjects do u think you'll enjoy more

Thats true, I'm emailing my teachers as we talk here lol, but do you think 80's would be enough?
