Hey everyone,

I just recently entered year 12 and I am searching for some work experience. I want to study Law at university and after that I plan on becoming a barrister (criminal probably). Because of this, I want to have work experience in a court or criminal law firm - but I am having trouble finding any. If anyone has any advice that would be greatly appreciated.

Whilst I didn't work in the field, friends of mine who did had to volunteer at places like their local legal centre or Legal Aid to get relevant experience before they were able to secure clerkships or associateships. It's pretty competitive and very limited in numbers so you may find yourself having to do a lot more ECs or indirectly related work experience in order to improve your chances. Once you're in uni you'll see there's a lot of ECs available given the level of sponsorship of the societies/competitions/conferences by the various law firms.
