What subjects are you planning to do in 2008?

Semester 1
-SCLG2618 Violence, Imaginaries and Symbolic Power
-SCLG2634 Crime, Punishment and Society

-JCTC2606 The Holocaust: History and Aftermath

Looks like a pretty fun year for me

Semester 1

HSTY 2618 Mediterranean World in High Middle Ages
HSTY 2656 A House Divided: The American Civil War
HSTY 2670 New York, New York
LAWS1018 International Law

Semester 2

HSTY 2679 Advanced Australia
LAWS 1017 Torts & Contracts II
LAWS 1021 Public Law

Bummed that they scrapped the 3000-level courses for history, although Advanced Australia looks like a decent substitute. Since I overloaded in semester 1 this year my second semester for 2008 will be nice and light.

Hands down the best ANHS course ever, good choice! You won't regret it (particularly if it's the Peter Brennan/Lyn Olson lecturer combination).

A lot of people seem to be doing the HSTY2618 (Middle Ages) course, I had it down on my pre-enrolment before I decided to transfer. Most of the medieval history courses at USyd tend to be okay, depending on who's taking them.
I actually chose ANHS2608 on the basis of your review of it. It sounds quite awesome. I hear that Peter Brennan is retiring, so Lyn Olson will be the only one taking the course.

As for HSTY2618, I'm a little unsure because the handbook doesn't say who's teaching it. I might end up replacing it with New York, New York or A House Divided.

Ed subjects only if I don't make the transfer

S1
CHEM2401 - Molecular Reactivity & Spectroscopy
BIOL2011 - Invertebrate Zoology
PHIL1011 - Reality, Ethics & Beauty (or EDUF3027 - International Education)
ENGL1008 - Australian Texts: International Contexts (or EDUF3030 - Australian Secondary Schooling)

S2
BIOL3025 - Evolutionary Genetics & Animal Behaviour
CHEM2402 - Chemical Structure & Stability
ENGL2617 - Postmodernism (or EDSE2001 - Craft Knowledge & Professional Practices 1)
PHIL10121013 - Society, Knowledge & Self (or EDUF2007 - Social Perspective on Education)

Thank God I get to skip EdPsych all together, having done it already at UNSW. It sounds terrible at Sydney. :(

i forget. a bunch of education units, a couple of english units (i think so far its 'reading sexuality' and romantic british literature or something) and a couple of performance studies units, i forget their names, something about rehearsal and audience preparation.

yeah i haven't looked at my pre-enrolment since i first did it, thats why i can't remember. i think i'll be changing around my english units a bit if the ol' timetable doesn't look a bit better.

The course on Byzantium taught by Greek Professor Karalis should be a cracker.

Warning: lecturer is a European intellectual. He speaks fast and thinks faster. Brilliant man with a kind heart. Thinks we are all savages (in the nicest way possible).

Unfortunately, I might not be able to take it.

Looks like:

either Latin or Modern Greek,
Classical Greek
2 Govt Subjects (something about post-communism?)
and 1 Political Economy - the Social one i think.

I'm still trying to get the best timetable and atm it looks like shit, so I may well be changing subjects :( For instance, I'm missing out on taking philosophy as it's a shit tuesday and thursday 1 hour each lecture schedule.

Semester 1:
CLAW2205 - Trade Practices and Consumer Law (may have to give this one a miss. fuck i wanted to do it so much :( )
MKTG3116 - International Marketing
MKTG3120 - Building and Managing Brands

Semester 2:
MKTG3118 - Marketing Strategy and Planning
MKTG3112 - Marketing Communications
IBUS3102

I'm considering:
ARIN3640 Computer Games and Simulation
ANTH1001 Cultural Difference: An Introduction

then again I could take out CLAW, pu tin an arts unit, then do 4 units in semester 2 with another marketing subject that fits nicely

fucking (compulsory) performance studies get the hell out of my mondays!!!! or at least shift to like, after 1pm?? fuck.

on the upside though, i am looking at a 3 day semester 1 and a 2 day semester 2 if i sort out the clashes and can work some magic on the timetable generator. :D

edit: managed to work out the clashes...just means a couple of late finishes...i guess i can handle that. if (when!) i move out next year i'll be able to handle any start/finish time. yay.
