this was such a load of crap. a 10mark question on the perioicoi??? a 5/6 mark question on the functions of the Spartan kings??? OMG!

And in the syllabus it says you need to know about "non examinable geographical features...". So why was the 1st question:

Name 2 geographical features in Spartan Society.

was this not the worst section in the paper?

Yep that geography question sucked! I didn't know the names of any...I just described. The Periokoi one was sorta hard cause I didn't really have many sources on them and one was the one they gave us...

I think cause of what you said about geographical features being non assessable they will accept really vauge ' there was grass and water and stuff' type answers.
I didnt mind the perioki question, i mean everything they wanted you to talk about was in the source they provided and there role is pretty straight forward.

I believe all HSC students should spend more time depicting
the great education system of the Board of Studies in NSW,
then having a pestemistic view about the Ancient exam for
example. Hence the BOS may have indicated that
non-examable information was just for backgroud knowledge,
thou I would have thought the first question was a giveaway
two marks. I believe the test was fair and a reflection of the
hard work students have portrayed over the last two years.
My advice to all HSC students, is hard work and application
of work does pay of in the long run. This is why our education
system in NSW is one of the best in the world. Sure the BOS
may have its probelms, thou at least education is supplied for
at the elementary stage. Other countries have no right to a
decent education. So spend more time working hard, then
putting down the BOS. Those guys are doing a great job, and
keep it up. Any body have any questions for me on Ancient
History, i'm more then happy to help. Regards.......

You really show your "Brand of intelligence", by using such
notions as "bitching", amoung other things. No I do not work
for the BOS, thou I can clearly see you didn't work as hard as
you say you did mate!!!!It's okay to give your personal opinion
about the examination and all, I just would like to remind you,
the first question on Sparta was a give away mark. If you can
not answer that one mate, I hate to see your other answers.
Anyway please dont take what me is saying to you to heart,
I am just putting forward a cohesive response to yours. It's all
good......lets just enjoy the end of the HSC........

I agree. Yey for the end of tyhe hsc, its wonderful etc and we should enjoy it. For me, part of that has been discussing the exams with people on this board, in some cases complaining as i didnt like the exams, in others discussing how good they were.
I was able to answer the question about geography, i had read my notes on it the night before and i had no problem with it. I do however have a problem with the BoS exaimaning non-exaimanable material, as it is unfair to those who prepared from the sylabus and were mislead, even if in this case that wasnt me. I know this might sound rather pathetic and picky, but hey, the exams are important.
I am also not sure what you mean by saying that i am showing my brand of intelligence by using the notion of bitching. It's just a coloquial part of my vocabulary, i use it as a synonym for complaining. My suggestion is if you dont like the dispariging way people sometimes talk about the BoS, just leave the thread, no one is making you read it.
