Yes I got this one...you have to work out the tax from both jobs put together, not separately, as I was doing for a while before I realised my mistake.

Total Tax was like $19300 or something

At the top it says She pays $14410.80 tax on this income.

So $19300 - 14410.80 = 4889.20

Tax on 2nd job = $4889.20

Her 2nd Job gross income is 900 x 12 = $10800

Her NET annual income for job 2 = 10800 - 4889.20
=5910.80

5910.80 divided by 12 = $492.56

Which is pretty close to the monthly net income (obviously it would be right if i had the exact total Tax figure down instead of just using 19300$.

total income from two jobs = 69424
total tax payable on both jobs = 19373.52
minus tax from income = 50050.45
net income from job 1 = 58624 - 14410.0 = 44213.2
take 44213.2 from 50050.45 and you get the net income for job 2, which is 5837.28
divide by 12 months = 486.44

lol i got the same thing in the 800-900's lol

But for 24biv

I did my answer for my amount and she got like 30 000 or something so i was like sure she'd have enough. Then i looked at the time thought for a moment and did the calculations for $486.44 and wrote them down too..

So i wonder if they'll take that. Because i wrote "if in fact her monthly net income is $486.44 then she still would have enough for her trip" and did the working and stuff..

I hope i get marks!!

Yep, I didn't realise we needed to take her 1st job into account, oh well. At least I got the other two points (for iv) I just assumed that the ppl who wrote the paper were right about her net income (otherwise what would be the point? LOL) and used that number.

With the bit about 900.. alot of people I know thought that was her annual gross income, rather than her monthly gross income.

I screwed up the entire section.

I may have gotten full marks for part (a) and part (b)(iv), but i lost a definite 9 marks for the rest... I got thrown right off track for that question. :(
