when storing organic substances, why is it important that we store them separately from oxidising agents ?

Storing organic substances doesn't just mean keeping them all together and the oxidising agents away. Each chemical type will be stored in different locations such as flammable compounds, corrosive compounds, oxidising agents etc.

The main point of storing things away from each other is related to safety. As you don't want the chemicals to potentially spill and react with one another and then thereby causing some dangerous safety hazards such as fires, explosions, toxic fumes etc

When you consider that oxidation of many organic substances can lead to the production of gases, and large amounts of gas in confined spaces is a recipe for an explosion, you will appreciate that oxidising agents are sensibly separated from substances that they might oxidise... especially organic substances.
