Is it possible to take a gap year during your uni overall course time. For example, during a 3 year course would you be able to take a year of after the first or second year of your course was completed?</SPAN>

depends on the course.
some courses like medicine and dentistry i dont think u can, unless for strenouse circumstances, eg your in hospital for a whole year.
general courses like commerce and engineering u can quite easily
