i dunno...i'm interested in the Computer Game Construction and Design specialisation for Comp Sci but I also want to do a comined degree with psychology...I dunno if its possible...

There's such thing as game design specialisation in UNSW? I'd be interested to know ;)

And combining with psychology is possible with SENG, I think the seng site has more info on that:

I think it's also possible with compsci, but better confirm with someone else.

Its a specialisation in Comp Sci :p

I'm fairly certain there are enough UOC for a specialisation and a minor (psych) in comp sci.

Oohh :( :( I know, I found out about the Comp Science specialisations the other day too, and there're lots of courses that I'd like to do but cant. :( Oohh :( I'm too far gone into my program tho. But I like it anyway. I like it I like it I like it.

Was going to ask, how difficult is the maths in comp eng/comp sci?

And is there a difference in amount/difficulty between the two?

I'm doing ext1 maths, and I find 2U maths very easy, but 3U maths very hard (mainly due to my inept ability to understand any sort of difficult trigonometry). Given the recommended level of maths is 90-100 in 2u and 100-150 in 3u it doesn't look very difficult (even a combined mark of 130 for 2u+3u seems fairly easily attainable).

Basically, how much/what topics in maths are there (I'm told lots of calculus...any trig? :rolleyes: ), and how difficult are they?

Comp eng involves more maths, but not directly maths as such, but maths you would do in the electrical engineering half of computer engineering - but don't understimate it, its still quite a bit of maths.

In first year the maths subjects are common; math 1A, math 1B, discrete maths (only minor difference in this subject) - from there onwards comp eng will do more maths related subjects via electrical engineering that the comp sci students won't have to do.

First year maths has two parts: algebra and calculus (so yes there is trig). A good 2U student should be able to keep up in first year maths. Having done 3U or 4U helps even more.

Harmonic mean forces you to do good both in assignments and the exam. Screw either of them up, and no matter how good the other result, YOUR STUFFED essentially.

Does this mean there isn't any scaling like in Maths?

How do you use GDB to debug programs on Cygwin?

Also, does CSE teach Fortran? WHo uses F?

If the distribution from the raw marks are too skewed, they actually apply scaling on, say the exam marks, so that the final marks are more "adjusted".
