hey u know how all u guys are saying it can go up heaps - well say the band 6 cut-off was 90/120 (75%) this year, then what would happen to the people's marks who get say 115/120 (96% raw) - they can't really go up much further. would that mean these marks and upwards would move to about 98/99? and say the top mark in the state was 115/120 (this is a hypothetical situation) would the aligned mark go to 100 for that person?

Thanks

i think so.......or if the person got a top mark of 115 then it would be i think 99/100
and i would probably think that the top mark either will be 115/120 or a bit less lower like 112

Nah, trust me, my head teacher (the school's best teacher in years) told me that a raw mark of roughly 90% will get you to 99 aligned mark. she even showed me statistics.

do u guys reckon that a raw mark of 98- 103 will equate to a 90-92 aligned mark.... or lower?

Yeah well it seems like it's not so hard to get 90 aligned, but my guess is that each 'mark' after that costs more 'raw marks' so maybe thats how you only need 94/120 (78.3%) to get '90', but acmilan needed 118/120 to get '99'. Kinda like a 'diminishing returns' thing in economics. I have no idea though, I'm just guessing

As for my mark, I think my maximum possible mark is about 113/120, so I think I'll get about 100-105/120, and that'll be alright :D

I know this is a bit off topic but I find it absolutely hillarious when I see the stereotype of a "hardass asian gangster" who does 4u maths and 4u english... And then at the same time I wonder- wait a minute, if I'm supposed to be considered a nerd compared to these guys, why am I failing 3u maths and doing 2u english?!

that's prety cool, i might still have a chance of gettin band 5 or 6, if this years was harder than 03, then band 6 cutoff would be this year about say 60/100 would it?

How can such low raw marks correspond to such high hsc marks? According to the solutions posted here I'll lose between 3 to 6 marks out of 120 yet a raw mark of around 100 (approximately 83%) can equate to a 94 hsc mark?

Say I get 95%, where does that put me compared to people getting 94 for a low 80s raw mark?

I doubt it will be that low, thats 72 out of 120, maybe 90/120 as many others here have said, which is 75%.

I hope it stays at 90/120 for band 6 cutoff--I got about 106/120 for non-attempts (didn't attempt 10b) except for minimially working out the area, which is sure wrong!), and considering any careless mistakes, probably about 100/120.

so probably only end up with 115 or 116/120!!!!!!!!

would 115/116 be enough for a 98% scaled?

ty...

i'd say so sam. i hope this year scales well, as everyone says, if marks like 60% can get pulled up to like 75%>, more than happy! do you think you got 116/120?
