Hey,

I need to some help from people who know anything about these two bachelors.

I’ve gotten an offer from Notre Dame for the bachelor of biomedical science and from UOW for the Bachelor of Science (Medical & Radiation Physics), and I need help deciding between the two. My final goal is hopefully medicine. But I‘m not restricted to doctorate. I’m planning on doing UCAT next year, but it’s totally possible that I’ll have to take the postgraduate pathway, which both these universities offer as well. But I also want to be extra prepared and have a backup plan in case GAMSAT doesn’t go well or I change my mind.

I’ve done some research into UOW’s bachelor and found that it can serve as a pathway to medical physicist which is quite interesting and something I might consider as a career. And the medical radiation field is quite diverse and interesting as a whole I’ve found. Also UOW offers “bonuses” for MD admissions to local applicants and to students who do bachelors at their uni.

For Notre dame, I don’t know much about the biomedical science field. But I think I can apply for their priority pathway further down the line if my GPA is high enough throughout the bachelors.

I just want some info (pros, cons, anything) about both of these fields, pathways and universities.

Thank you :)

heyyy i can't help much, but i was just wondering about your plans to do ucat next year. do u plan on taking a gap year or working concurrently with a course? and if you do well, will you apply for medicine in the 2026 round?

Hey! I did ucat this yr and it didn’t go so well so that‘s why I’m trying again for the 2026 round. I know my ATAR will be fine though (hopefully). I’m going to start bachelors as a back-up, just in case next yr doesn’t go good either. And I’m doing just light work and tutoring through my school’s alumni program.

got it. im not too sure about uow and notre dame, but i heard that if you are really set on medicine, a med sci degree from usyd or unsw is pretty good. you can even take a double degree of biomed engineering and med sci from usyd. ive got a friend's friend who took pharmacy at usyd, and then got into postgrad medicine. honestly you could take any science related course and get in.
