Accomodation at Wagga (1 Viewer)

Premium cottages are great if you want to pay through the nose for accommodation and have everyone think you're a snot-nosed little brat living off Mummy and Daddy.
Heres a basic rundown-
Catered is good if you cant cook for yourself and are looking for a more social uni life-
Catered;
east/west- lots of fun, older but if your lucky you can get a big room, or unlucky a small one- there mixed in sizes some of them.
Doman- very social, rooms arent fantastic but get what you pay for and its better than living in town
butler- very fun, you get a balcony/verandah outside your room, best spot on campus- next to the gym, pool etc most central and plenty of storage.
stewards- a/c is good but everyone gets sick together. nice rooms, bit quieter than other halls.
Self Catered-
New res- worst spot on campus, another 800m from the bus stop, which means alot after nights at the uni bar or walking home in the heat from class, but are pretty nice, remind me of ikea. pretty pricey tho.
Cottages- good fun, social at the beginning of the year but get less social as the year progresses, whereas catered halls are social all year round. most cottages dont have ovens by the way, just a stove and microwave, but they are all a/c and are more like living in a house, just pray you get good house mates.
premium cottages; good spot on campus, nice rooms, a/c but very pricey and you might as well stay in stewards!

Francis- pretty nice, very strict on rules though, i.e. visitors to your rooms etc, only really socialise with other francis kids, you dont go out of the college much.
st martins- very similar to cottages, nice atmosphere.

Um yea it helps but are the new residences really "the worst spot"?
I just got my offer for accommodation there and, based on some friends opinions that have gone to Wagga last year, they seem really nice. (like you said)
Sure you have to go out of the way to get to your rooms but wouldn't the exercise be good? Hot weather or not?

* What's the situation with laundry? Do you have to pay? If so how much? Like $2 per load?
* What kind (if any) of events/activities do the halls/cotages organise throughout the year excluding O Week? Examples from this year would be a good indicator.
* I got my prefered place but didn't get the option I wanted. I got option 1 which means I have to move my thing out during the semester breaks. How hard is it to change from one option to the other? I read that you have to fill out some form, but do these requests usually suceed?
* What's the meal situation? One dining hall for all catered students? Also, how's the food? Toast and cereal for breakfast? How's dinner?
* Do any of the accommodation options have access to Foxtel? I don't know how I'd cope if my team wasn't on Channel Nine one week.

the laundry is free, but sometimes there is a queue. There are clotheslines available for both catered and selfcatered, but some people bring thier own clotheshorse which is quite smart.
There are heaps of events throughout the year, examples include scav hunts, pub crawls, floor crawls, social sport every week, bbqs, and there are formal nights too, each halls has its own formal dinner sometime in the year.
its not hard to change from package 1 to package 2, but if your not staying in wagga during ur holidays, its not that bad packing ur stuff up every holidays to take home, saves a bit of money. there are huge lockable cupboards in all your rooms for package 1 and ull find u can fit most of ur stuff in there.
and there is one dining hall for all catered students. the food is great in oweek, and gets a bit worse after then, its edible though. i was catered last year and i lived with it, some nights though ull choose to order pizza over the dining hall options.
and some of the halls have access to foxtel, but its only th basic channels and there is never much on anyway, just dont get in the way when underbelly is on, kids at uni love that show too much.

What exactly are we suppose to bring if we are moving onto campus? I mean I know you would bring all your clothes and basic stuff such as cleaning stuff/toiletries/computers/music players, but apart from that is anything else aloud? Are we aloud to bring all stuff from home? For example books/DVDs/CDs/whatever other stuff we own.
Or is the University going to give us a list on what we should bring and what we shouldn’t?

Hey Toasterbot. I don't see why you wouldn't be allowed to bring DVDs etc. I have a few that I plan on bringing. The CSU website lists a few thing that you should bring, including:
Towels, soap and toiletries
Desk lamp
Iron
Fan
Laundry detergent and pegs
Cooking utensils, pots/pans, crockery, cutlery, tea towels and washing up requirements (self catered only)
Headphones (if bringing portable, hand-held stereo)
Additional furniture and blow heaters are not permitted.
So I guess that really means you can bring anything, as long as it's not large enough to be considered "furniture". I'm goning to try and keep it light.

Wagga. Butler Hall's. Medical Imaging. Yeeeeee, wish I booked my flight earlier, I'm going to get to Room Allocation about an hour late due to that being the only available Syd>Wagga Wagga Qantas flight.
Would anyone know if that would be a problem? That is, my being late to Room Allocation?

Also does anyone know if they have places to keep our cars? I don't know if I'll have my P's in time, but if I do my parents want me to take my car with me. So yeah is there anywhere on campus we keep them? Thanks.

i got early early entry and have already got accomodation on campus in the cottages.
i've visited CSU wagga twice, once had a friend show me around her cottage; they're lovely. You get your own room, bed, desk, mirror and mini fridge. you share with 8 other people, 4 to a bathroom (two hallways going down ither side of the house). There's a common living area with couches, dining table, ironing board and TV. The kitchen has a large common fridge and you also get individual lock-up cupboards for your pantry. There's decent air con and a cleaner will come in 3x a week.
I think they're the best. my friend advised me that new res is pretty cramped (10 to a bathroom if you don't get an en suite) while all the catered areas (butler etc) are super old and crummy (they definitely looked it from the outside).
