Rates of Skill Acquisition
Some skills are acquired rapidly, while other take considerably time. Learning curves give an indication of individual’s rate of skill acquisition.
[edit]
Learning Curves and Plateaus
[edit]
Linear Curve
Performance improves as practice increases, practice is beneficial and successful
[edit]
The Negatively Accelerated Curve
Practice first successful in early stages by then levels off. Learning slows but has not stopped
[edit]
The Positively Accelerated Curve
Only small gains from practice in early sessions. Significant improvements in later stages
[edit]
